United Nations Association of Tanzania is a non-governmental and not for profit organization devoted to support the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter. It has been operating since 1964.

Mission;

“To carry out capacity building, education, advocacy, lobbying and activism activities to increase stakeholders’ influence and participation in implementing UN agenda”

Its main aim is to bring people closer to the UN. This being through promoting public awareness, engagement and understanding of the activities of the United Nations

Activities:

  • UN Club School Program
  • Media Law Reform Project
  • New Media Policy Project
  • Media Election Monitoring Project

Objectives;

  • Increase public awareness and understanding of the UN and its processes
  • Enhance public engagement and advocate for implementation of the UN agenda and the Millennium Development Goals
  • Provide a platform for stakeholders to participate in shaping the international agenda.

5. Advocacy and Support for the One UN Program

UNA Tanzania also has a Zonal office in Lake Victoria Zone based in Mwanza region and currently has 5 branches across the country. UNA Tanzania is the founding institution of Youth of UNA (YUNA), where most of its works related to youth are managed by YUNA i.e. UN Clubs, Chapters etc.

UNA Tanzania is also a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA).
